- Black Rican Vegan -

This is the first time I am working on a cookbook.

I have wanted to see my work printed and I posted something about it on my IG, on May 2022 (manifested, maybe?). And so Lyana did as well on January 2022, months before we even met!

So I guess all this was meant to be and has been a good start.

Lyana Blount is an Afro-Puerto Rican, and Bronx native chef; she is the owner of Black Rican Vegan, a pop-up concept that was born during the Covid pandemic.

I have been working with chefs and cooks for about ten years, and I can tell, Lyana is doing something unique.
She prints a story on each dish besides admiring creativity to give a twist to Puerto Rican cuisine into vegan dishes without losing a pinch of sazĂłn and nostalgia que tienen las abuelas.

The book is being published by Page Street Publishing, and includes 60 recipes, some portraits, processes, and NYC shoots.

We are shooting 60 recipes at my tiny little 150 ft2 studio in Manhattan, and having fun!

Also, I have been painting some of the backdrops on my own with the help of my friend and artist DeGrupo.

The book will be ready on July 2023 and is now available for pre-order on Target, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.
